Annual Dinner/Dance 18th November 2011
It's Simon Gillespie - again!
At the Annual Dinner/Dance & Awards night held at the Okehampton Rugby Club on Friday 18th November, it was Simon Gillespie that walked away with the silverware on the night, collecting 3 awards. Simon collected the best batting and best bowling awards together with the 1st XI player of the year award for his sterling efforts through 2011.
The other winners were - Matt Mason award - Rob Chapman, Best young bowler - Shaun Letheren, Best young bowler - Jack Cherrington, The Tony Miller award - Charlie Neilsen, 2nd XI Player of the year - Michael Jones, NDL Player of the year - Rob Fishleigh, Ladies team Player of the year - Clare Reynolds, Ladies Bat of the year - Frances Lausen, Ladies Bowler of the year - Kirstie Tidball.
The Clubman of the Year award went to Richard Tidball for all his efforts through the year both on the field and off it. A true stalwart of the Club and the award was truely justified.
The catering and service was excellent again and thanks go to Okehampton Rugby Club for their efforts.
I must admit I went home just as the Disco was starting and left the 'dancing' to the younger members of the Club, but all in all a very very good end to a successful season for the Club. I'm sure that the 'sore heads' this morning will also verify this fact.

Fine praise indeed for the Club
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!! [best of the week!] All tourists asked me to thank you all for a lovely day! We just provided the ball , the weather and a win!! Sandra's food was excellent. The game was played in the best of spirits and all tourists returned home safely, as far as I know. Needless to say, it's throwing it down today and the weekend's cricket has been called off! Will keep you informed ref. next year's fixture, if OK.
